It's Raining in Florida:

Somewhere in a dingy trailer park in Oklahoma, Anita Bryant weeps tremendous tears for the children of Florida.

Pride:

Having Gay Pride is fun. Never would have guessed that in a million years. I’m so gay now that I carry my own rainbow colored stage curtain for a dramatic makeshift backdrop.

The crowd gathered downtown at Bienville Square which has the most enormous Victorian wrought iron fountain.

Mobile has a lot of homeless people.

They seemed to take the activities in stride by napping through the concerts.

So many familiar faces. Where do I begin?

Lets see first off there was Miss Cee. She an old girl from way back in the day and she’s still got “IT” even in her boy drag.

B-Bob’s is a gay bar and these are the fabulous B-Bob’s Dancers.

They know how to put on a show y’all.

They won a prize for exhibiting the best Spirit.

The beautiful Miss Gay Pride and her entourage.

She sang “I am what I am” by Gloria Gaynor with her own voice and without the least hint of Popeye's version either.

The BIG girls were out in full force.

“Ladies and Gentlemen Miss Venus Shante Da Viss”

Girl was twirlin’ up the stage and wearing the most amazing pharaohnic inspired headdress.

Miss Venus and I go way back to the Stone Age where Miss Cee instructed the wee gaylings on the art of illusion. Miss Venus used to be a professional football player.

The cutest little boy and his message T-shirt.

TJB was right! Miss Jennifer Holliday was all disheveled but very gracious explaining that the Gay Folks have always had her back even when she was 400 pounds or when she needed her mortgage paid, “The Gays was there for me...”

She had some serious dramatic moments during her song styling's and one of which she became overwhelmed and needed a police officer to fan her down. She was in good voice despite the humidity.

She was the main reason that I attended this festival. I can’t tell you how many times (some of the older queens can testify to this) I’ve seen some sad Drag Queen get up and lip sync to “And I Am Telling You”, literally hundreds of times. I just once wanted to see the original.

Pay close attention to her quivering jaw technique, now this is how it’s done.

“And the moment you’ve all been waiting for Miss Jennifer Holliday...”

Some parting shots,
