Should I Stay or Should I Go Now:

During the recent attack on our freedom of porn speech, in which I became fond of the strikethrough, I set up shop over at Wordpress. The interface couldn't be more different and in the process of decorating I sort of got a renewed interest in the blog. I created new graphics and experienced a zing of creativity. Just as I was putting the finishing touches on the joint, Blogger/Google decided to back down.

Secretly I felt part of that decision in a, Don't You Tell Me What To DO, kind of way, even though I never received the official email from blogger telling me to clean up my act or face DELETION.

Logan's Run comes to mind where my 30 year old blog goes to Carousel to be renewed, floating up in the air and then exploding. The new blog has allure. Even though the graphics and colors are more vivid over at WP, I'm experiencing separation anxiety. I've abandoned my puppy to the blog city pound.

"So how long do you keep my blog before you put it down?"

"We make that decision as soon as you leave."

"So you're telling me that you're going to put my blog down as soon as I walk out the door?"

"We make that decision as soon as you leave."

Late last night I revisited the old blog one more time. "It's not such a bad little blog after all," as I gave the place the once over. Maybe a little sprucing up here and there, a little tweakin', and the black background goes away the text is now easier own my eyes. Maybe I'll keep it. I tweak and tweak and then pass out well after midnight. Then I receive an email this morning from Mistress MJ;

"Hello my lovely,

Over at your old Blogspot blog, you put a link to your new Wordpress blog but you put it in the comments box.

Be sure to make a new post on the old blog telling everyone where to find your new blog. I think that there are a number of people who don't know you've moved.

Cheers,

Mistress MJ"

The Clash popped into my head and I've been singing it all morning. I'm leaning toward staying but keeping my new puppy over at WordPress as an escape hatch, not that I don't think Yahoo won't pull the same porn trick one day, but also as a warning to Blogger that they don't scare me. I know how to write code, I'll self host and run my own, Pornarium, BITCHES!

  1. Yes I too have been thinking the same thing. I never received the email either but was thinking the same as a escape route. I have a friend who hasn't blogged in years and her blog is still there and waiting her return. I am adoring your new head...er!

    1. My previous post revealed that inactive blogs can be hijacked and used by ne'er do wells. Porn, Advertisers and people in countries that block blogger to live their middle eastern fashionista dreams.

  2. Stay. Or if you have the energy / inclination, maintain *BOTH* and spread your message of filth to an even wider audience. x

    1. I don't have the energy or time to maintain two. Thank you for the encouragement and for nominating me in the Filthy category. It has always been my dream to out Filth, Divine, as the Filthiest Person Alive.

    1. Zing is an underrated emotion. It's similar to Hope, but hopped up on Dolls. Thank you for sticking with me all these years. Soon we will come up with a new more fitting name for you. I'm leaning toward, "Mistress No Tell Motel," myself.

    1. isn't everyone & everything evil?

maybe we should all start scrap booking at a
lame motel somewhere in the middle.

    2. Norma may be on to something. Nothing like a no tell motel and cheap whiskey.

    3. Peewee: Google is pure EVIL! It's like a gun, "guns don't kill people, people kill people." google is a giant big brother computer on the verge of becoming sentient. I imagine an apocalyptic landscape. They collect information and sell it to the government. At the same time ISIS uses it to recruit people.

    4. @Peenee! Fucking Google autocorrect.

    5. Norma: Yes the edges of my heart are trimmed in evil. I had suggested, ELLO as the motel in the middle. I'm sure the migration from FB to ELLO is in progress. I wish I had the smarts to start my own blog middlebrow platform.

    6. MM: No Tell Motel is an excellent name for a run down seedy blog hosting program. Or, it could be the new name for Mistress MJ or her blog.

    7. As I push Ello even though I haven't set up shop they sent me this wonderful letter today;

"Following Google’s decision to ban NSFW content from Blogger (followed by an awkward reversal), we decided to celebrate freedom of speech on Ello by naming March NSWF Month.

You can’t ban some content without seriously impacting freedom of speech for everyone.

The last people we want to dictate what we can't say on the Internet are the advertisers that control big ad-based social networks. Ello doesn’t believe in censorship, and because Ello is ad-free, we will always be a dependable haven for free speech.

Help us celebrate NSFW Month on Ello by posting and discussing ideas about free speech, censorship, and why it's important that Internet remain open and free."

  5. I am staying. I have decided: as much as a) I hate what Google is, and has threatened to do with its power; but also bearing in mind b) I am just too blathered to do much about moving all my ramblings yet again into unknown territory, so it would be too much stress for me to spend time and effort doing anything drastic unless I really, really have to...

    Jx

PS Love the new "refresh" here, by the way!

    1. The main thing that bothered me at Wordpress was that when I imported my blog, videos and other embedded items didn't show up. The older posts weren't cooperating either and were wonky in the layout.

    2. Bearing in mind that a fairly huge proportion of my blogs feature some kind of embedded video or such (whether or not they have now disappeared due to the vagaries of YouTube), you have convinced me - I'm staying put! Jx

    3. Stay Put! It is also a brand that I play with, Stay Put Lipstick, Stay Put Tampons etc. Staying put is one of my favorite things like in the South we mind. Mind the door, Who's minding the children, I have half a mind to tell you to go to hell. Minding is big around here.

  6. No you must stay, it'll be an end of an era without Ayem8y, it'll be like Dorothy when she left the Golden Girls BTW I've just ordered the final series of the Golden Girls you know what that means for Rose?

  7. I appreciate it so much that you said that. I have no intention of leaving this forum. I might however switch platforms one day. You and I bonded at Lady Bunny when she used to accept comments. I remember a picture by picture commenting on the interiors of the Slags of Gaydar at your blog while you were out of town or maybe a flood and you fell out the window. You responded that it perked you up and you were suffering from a cold. It was then that I realized the magic of reaching out to people in the blog diary form. All of you guys are as much or even more special friends than the people I actually spend my day to day life with.
