I Know I Know:

You know I’m such a know-it-all you know that like all the time I’m told so. You know what? Two things I learned today of which I was certain that I was in the know are not what I now know. So know this,

Maureen Stapleton and

Jean Stapleton

ARE not and WERE not SISTERS! I know right? I know I always thought they were and everybody I know just everybody I know told me so also you know…the things you think you know.

Know what else? I pride myself in knowing the names of Santa’s reindeer. I know them by heart. You know Dasher and Dancer, Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid, Donner and Blitzen. Do you know what I know? In the original poem, A Visit From St. Nicholas, Donner and Blitzen were known as Dunder and Blixem.

"The 1844 Clement Clarke Moore version of the poem, included the German spelling of "Donder and Blitzen," rather than the original 1823 version using the Dutch spelling, "Dunder and Bliksem. Both phrases translate as "Thunder and Lightning" in English, though German for thunder is now spelled Donner, and the Dutch words would nowadays be spelled Donder and Bliksem."

Now you know!

  1. You mean the Stapleton Sisters aren't sisters? How embarassing! I'm reliving all those cocktail parties I was at, referring to the 2 of them as sisters, as if I knew what I was talking about. Now I realize I was just being ignorant, and everyone was secretly laughing at me.
